Monetary transactions made easy with the new update from WhatsApp payments..
Android users of WhatsApp can now send money using QR codes. The global instant messaging app rolled out the new feature in order to enable monetary transactions through its platform with the support of QR codes. This update comes soon after the app announced the introduction of WhatsApp Payments.
Although this feature is currently only available for the Android beta channel, a wider rollout of the update is expected in the coming weeks. However, users will be able to send money using QR codes only if they have enabled WhatsApp payments on their apps.
WhatsApp entered the digital payments services market recently and with its contemporaries regularly releasing new updates, the messaging app is also rolling out new features for its 200 million monthly active Indian users.
WhatsApp had recently added a feature called ‘Send to UPI ID’ which enabled its users to send money on its platform to any UPI ID in India.
How to use WhatsApp Payments QR Code to send money..
This feature is only available on the latest version of WhatsApp beta for Android (version 2.18.93). The user will be able to send by selecting Settings > Payments > New Payment and selecting the QR code option.
A scanner will be opened which would then scan for compatible QR codes. Once recognised, the user can enter the amount and authenticate it using their UPI pin.
Upcoming WhatsApp features you might see soon WhatsApp has been busy with its updates lately and apart from the rapidly updating WhatsApp Payments, it is also rolling out a few interesting features like the more advanced GIF search bar. The search bar would sort out different GIFs from a variety of categories.
Then there’s the search stickers feature which would allow users to search for the stickers they want in doodle view. Both these are currently unavailable in the latest beta versions but will mostly be rolled out in its upcoming updates..
